LIFTS AND RAMPS

Vertical Platform Lifts

Vertical platform lifts, also known as porch lifts, are useful for patients that use powerchairs, manual wheelchairs, and scooters.  These lifts are ideal for homes and businesses with confined spaces where there is not ample room for a ramp.  Porch lifts can hold up to 1000 lbs. and reach as high as 15 feet depending upon the model.

Vertical Platform Common Questions

When surrounding space is limited or higher rises are present, a vertical platform lift is the ideal home access solution for any difficult porch, deck or other raised entry.  Modular ramps will require a lot more space as ADA regulations state that a foot of ramp is required for every inch of rise.  For example, deck stairs with 8 steps would require 8 feet of ramp to be compliant.  A vertical platform lift is also more aesthetically pleasing than the aluminum modular ramps.

Stairlifts

Stairlifts are motorized chairs that travel along a rail mounted to the treads of stairs. The rider should be able to get on and off the chair independently, or with assistance in the form of a walker or cane only.  Stair lifts can be installed on straight stairs or curved stairs.  These lifts allow people to maintain independence in their homes by giving them the freedom to travel from floor to floor.

Stairlifts Common Questions

All stairlift manufacturers have mandatory safety requirements that are built in to their products.  The chairs have armrests and safety belts to keep the occupant safely and comfortably in the chair.  There are also multiple safety stop sensors in place to ensure that the chair stops if anything gets stuck in the tracks or under the chair.

The stairs can still be used under normal circumstances.  There will be a small amount of track at the side of the stairs to navigate around and the chair seat, hand rails, and foot plate will all fold up to create more space for normal use of the stairs.  A person would have no problem using the stairs to walk up or down them, but you may have to work around the chair if carrying larger items.

Portable Aluminum Ramps

Portable ramps provide a user the convenience of being able to take them anywhere they go.  These ramps can be used at home, work, or most places that life will take you.  Single fold ramps are available up to 8 feet long and multi-fold ramps are available up to 10 feet long.  Portable ramps can be used for walking, walkers, manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, or electric mobility scooters.  There are weight limits, depending upon the length and manufacturer.

Portable Ramp Common Questions

Absolutely.  There are several factors that would affect the ability of the ramps to be moved such as length, weight, and the strength and ability of the person using them.  Ramps are made of lightweight, but sturdy aluminum and weigh anywhere from 11 to 47 pounds.  A typical, single-fold ramp that is 6 feet long would weigh about 34 pounds.

There are several different manufacturers of portable ramps and it would depend on the product, but most will hold approximately 800 pounds.

Portable ramps can be used for virtually anything that will fit on them safely.  People can walk on them, but they are most commonly used for wheelchairs, scooters, and powerchairs.

Aluminum Modular Ramps

Modular ramps are designed and built for residential applications such as houses, trailers, and modular homes. Our ramps adhere to ADA guidelines, state building codes, and have the necessary stamping for residential load requirements.  These ramps provide freedom and access to individuals of all ages and abilities for life’s everyday tasks.

Aluminum Modular Ramps Common Questions

The ramp system will not impact your home’s property value because it does not alter or add to the structure of the residence – no poured footers, no construction – just simple assembly.  When the need for the ramps are gone, they can be disassembled and taken away with virtually no change in the home’s appearance prior to the ramp being installed.

A modular ramp is virtually maintenance free, it will not rust or rot and is constructed from an environmentally friendly materialThey are made of high-strength aluminum which will not deteriorate in the outdoor elements and features slip-resistant surfaces that maintain traction in any weather. Sides are finished and flush with no hazardous nuts or bolts protruding into the usable ramp area.

It depends upon the manufacturer, but most of them have lifetime warranties against manufacturer defects.  Please refer to accompanying manuals and brochures to verify warranty information.
